Business Environment Supporting Cycle to Work Scheme

Reading Time: 2 minutes

The team at Business Environment’s Milton Keynes serviced office business centre are working with their local council to encourage staff and clients to cycle to work.

As part of a national Cycle to Work scheme, 15 bike racks have been installed at the business centre, located on Avebury Boulevard. The new bike rack has been part-funded by Milton Keynes council, Allianz Insurance plc and partly by Business Environment.

There is already a number of cycle to work enthusiasts regularly commuting to the business centre but Business Environment hopes to boost that number, encouraging employees and clients to leave their cars at home.

Centre manager at Milton Keynes, John Edwards, said: “Along with helping to maintain a healthy team of staff, cycling to work reduces CO2 emissions and saves money – the average cyclist saves ~600 every year in car running costs – so the benefits are multi-fold.“

Allianz are currently located in the Milton Keynes offices, CSR Manager, Richard Foulerton, commented: “We are committed to encouraging physical activity amongst our staff so we were delighted to be able to support this initiative. Cycling to work is a great way for people to get fit and stay active whilst helping to save money, reduce congestion and minimise your impact on the environment.“

During 2011 Business Environment also supported National Bike Week. The operator set up a number of refresher courses, aimed at helping employees with a range of cycling abilities to brush up on their road skills.

  1. Great scheme. I wish I could cycle to work, but it takes me over an hour to get to work in a car, so cycling for me is just not an option. It’s such a great way to keep fit and will definitely save money on petrol!
