Serviced Office Firm i2 Office to ‘Shape the Office of the Future’

Serviced office firm i2 Office has announced a partnership with managed services provider essensys that will leverage the cloud delivery model to provide the broadest and most affordable range of IT and telecoms services available in the business centre sector to its clients.

The serviced office operator, which launched its first business centre last month in Milton Keynes, has promised that through the new partnership they will effectively be ‘shaping the office of the future through technology’.  i2 Office has broken the mould of the serviced office sector by offering a broad range of flexibly packaged IT and telecoms services on a genuine ‘pay as you go’ model.

Leveraging the scalability and elasticity of the essensys Cloud, i2 Office offers entry-level packages at industry leading price points with the option to expand on-demand as clients’ businesses grow.  Making large capital outlay a thing of the past, customers can opt-in and consume services as they need them and pay on a month-by-month basis, bringing the IT and telecoms model into line with the serviced office model.

i2 Office CEO Philip Grace said: “Having worked in the serviced office space for over a decade, it was clear to me that technology developments like cloud computing could be leveraged in the business centre. After all, the flexibility and on-demand nature of cloud computing could not be better aligned with the flexible office model delivered by our business centres. The key was to turn that conceptual marriage into reality and that is exactly what we have done with the essensys partnership. This means i2 Office customers get a broad range of services delivered how they want them, when and where they want them, with outstanding reliability and standout performance.“

For organisations moving into new premises there are lots of boxes to be ticked along the way and IT and telecoms is one of the most significant. Getting it wrong or missing something can severely impact a business for weeks or even months. It is for this reason that essensys has created the essensys Cloud, a private, any-to-any network linking tenants and offices to a distributed and highly redundant set of service platforms; all hosted in secure UK data centres.

The essensys Cloud effectively operates as an IT and telecoms hub connecting all of essensys’ customers to the full range of services that they might require; from a phone system to web-conferencing, from internet connectivity to LAN, from hosted desktops and online backup to IPTV and virtual servers. Built on a set of reference architectures developed from ISP and carrier class network principles, the essensys Cloud exploits best-of-breed hardware to deliver the reliability and performance required from core to edge.

“essensys has fully embraced the ‘as a service’ model to deliver on our core values of simplicity, reliability and flexibility,“ says essensys CEO, Mark Furness. “We have an uncompromising vision of the ultimate IT service for the business centre industry,“ continues Furness.  “Our aim is to ensure that we are able to provide our i2 Office customers with a solution that gives them the benefits of a true 21st century office.“

I don’t understand this press release, as someone working in the serviced office industry…how on earth are potential serviced office users supposed to?!

Our business centre offers fully inclusive telephone and broadband usage (that’s right, no extra monthly charge) – simple, straightforward ‘give me the internet, my emails and a telephone number’ service that everyone needs, understands and can use.

If people moving into serviced office are experiencing ‘large capital outlay’, they’re moving in to the wrong serviced offices! And why would you want to link to a ‘highly redundant set of service platforms’….?

  2. The wording here is a bit techie, but the key message is simple – more flexible, robust IT and telecoms packages. Clients often have different requirements, perhaps dedicated bandwidth or sepcific features such as IP TV, and i2’s relationship with essensys allows them access to a much wider range of high-quality services at affordable prices. There is a fixed price for the workstation – much lower than the standard monthly charge – and the IT support can be bought separately according to individual needs. The ‘highly redundant’ part simply refers to how robust the servers are, which is something most clients would certainly be looking for.
