Office Space occupiers in Central and Greater Manchester are set to reap the benefits of improved transport links as the Metrolink line faces major expansions after the Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive (GMPTE) appointed a construction company to carry out a £575 million project last month.  The development will see the tram network nearly double in size, greatly improving public transport links to the Greater Manchester areas and, it is hoped, reduce central city congestion.

As a result Greater Manchester is expected to benefit from a substantial business and economy boost.   And, with vastly improved links making life far easier for commuters, as well as square foot prices averaging considerably less than those of central city areas, suburbs would appear set to become attractive locations for further Serviced and Traditional Office sites, both within town centres and as part of out of town schemes like Rochdale’s Kingsway Business Park (Details can be seen at Rochdale Metropolitan County Council’s Website).

Embarking on the 3rd phrase of the project will see track extensions taking the Metrolink from Manchester City to Central Park, St Werburgh’s Road in Chorlton, Oldham Mumps, Rochdale and Droylsden, with work expected to commence at the start of 2009 and completion within 2 years.
