As one of the UK’s largest business and financial centres outside of London the city of Leeds offers a plethora of Serviced Offices to lease.  Supporting a variety of industry, Leeds offers a suitably eclectic choice of Serviced Office accommodation from top class offerings by big name providers  who are well represented in the city, to smaller independents offering more economic solutions. The smaller independent companies, where a more personal touch and affordable price can so often be found, should not be overlooked and a follow up article covering Leed’s independent providers will follow shortly.

A thriving financial business centre there are thirty national and international banks, and a similar number of call centres, based in the city.  You can find the headquarters of First Direct, Direct Line, Halifax Direct and the UK operations centre for GE Consumer Finance in the city which employs over 110,000  within this sector, accounting for 25% of the city’s GDP.  As well as maintaining a well-established reputation as a centre for the media and communication industries, Leeds also remains one of the country’s principal centres for manufacturing with particular strengths in engineering, printing, chemicals and food production.  

The largest providers of Serviced Offices in the Uk, Regus Plc, have two central locations, one on Princes Exchange and the other on Wellington Place. The Princes Exchange building is perhaps the grander of the two, but both offer the usual high class facilities you would expect from a Regus offering and both are excellently located in the heart of the city’s financial district. Regus also have two out of town Leeds locations for those who prefer to drive to work (remember that, as with most major city centres, parking is at a premium in Leeds). These are at City West, South of the city centre and adjacent to the M621, and at the Thorpe Park Business park, about six miles south east of the city centre and adjacent to the new M1 Extension.  As with all Regus’ centres at the moment, there are some very competitive deals to be had for companies who choose to reside with them.

Back to the city centre and two other major players in the Serviced Office market also have business centres located very centrally and within close proximity of the station.  MWB has an impressive building at Whitehall which overlooks the River Aire offered as a fully unbranded centre. The property is located within a stones throw of the busy station which offers links to London Kings Cross in 2 hours 30 mins, as well as servicing the local area with its extensive network of metro lines.  The majority of these city central offices benefit from floor to ceiling windows

Just a few minutes walk from the MWB building (and the closest serviced office to the city’s coach station) is the first of two offerings from Citibase on Wellington Street. Although much smaller than the MWB and Regus’ offerings, Citibase pride themselves in being as flexible as their larger competitors, and in fact were the only ones who could recently offer a large bookmaker exactly the configuration of space and technology that they required. Their other centre in Leeds is on Park Square, one of the more tranquil and desirable addresses in Leeds and still less than a 10 minute walk from the station. This building is opposite the town hall and law courts, and therefore a big favourite with the many legal firms operating out of the city. The other serviced office in this exact area is operated by Inigo and is a period building offering spaces for the smaller company.  With up to 12 workstation configurations available, the building overlooks the famous Square.

Turning right out of Park Square along the Headrow, we reach the two serviced offices run by Forsyth. The building on the Headrow itself is a fully serviced offering, whereas the building on South Parade offers offices on a semi serviced basis. Both are in a good location, still in the business district, and are also very close to the main retail areas. Forsyth, like Regus, also have a serviced office in the outskirts of the city in Gildersome, LS27 which is more contemporary than its city centre counterparts.

Back in the city centre, and the other main unbranded serviced office operator – Executive Office Group – have their building at City Square. This is one of the best addresses in Leeds, and for me, the contemporary design sets it apart from the other providers. This office is truly unbranded, and the receptionist will never answer the phones to incoming calls here, the virtual office element of the operation is always conducted away from prying eyes!
