There are ways to ensure you have easy access to everything you need without it looking untidy or disorganised.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The way you organise your desk will also depend on where you work. Those based from home or in a permanent office have slightly more freedom when it comes to organising their space than people who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.easyoffices.com\/blog\/work-environment\/a-beginners-guide-to-hot-desking\"><strong>hot desk<\/strong><\/a> and are unable to sit at the same desk everyday.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With this in mind, our top tips are not a definitive list that will work for every desk style, instead you can think of it like a shopping list where you pick and choose options that you think will work for you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>&nbsp;Sort and purge<\/strong><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>If you work from a permanent desk, spending time sorting and clearing unnecessary items is a great first step in organising your desk. Clearing clutter helps you to only keep what you use, but <strong>sorting and organising are also mindfulness exercises<\/strong> that force you to focus on the present and create a relaxed and positive mindset.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We\u2019d recommend evaluating every item at your desk and determining whether it\u2019s something you use all the time, occasionally or never. You can then remove what it never used, before grouping similar \u2018keep\u2019 items together; for example stationary.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Remote workers can use this method too. If you work in front of a computer for the majority of your day, always ensure it\u2019s centred with your chair and the height of your screen has been adjusted to avoid <strong>eye fatigue<\/strong><strong> <\/strong>and headaches.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Even if you don\u2019t work from a computer at your desk, placing your most used item at the centre of your desk can really help to improve focus, keep everything organised and ensure you\u2019re not straining or overreaching for the things you need.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"4\"><li><strong>&nbsp;Create space<\/strong><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>While some research has shown that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discovermagazine.com\/mind\/is-a-messy-desk-a-sign-of-genius-heres-what-the-science-says\"><strong>messy desks can indicate higher levels of creativity<\/strong><\/a>, this is generally not the case for most people.
