About Leytonstone
Leytonstone Station is part of London's Underground service on the Central line, straddling the border of Travelcard Zones 3 and 4. In fact, this stop is situated before the Central line splits going east, so you have full access to the entire range of Central line stops. With nearby access to the A12 and a large 24-hour car park, getting into the city could not be more convenient. In fact, central London is a mere 10-15 minutes away. A wide range of bus services complements the station's offerings, including a night route.
At first glance, the station may seem quite unassuming, however, it boasts an interesting history. During WWII, its newly built tunnels were actually used as an aircraft component factory and, like many Underground stations, other parts were used as an air-raid shelter. Currently, it boasts colourful mosaics honouring the neighbourhood’s most famous citizen, Sir Alfred Hitchcock. This vibrant area is also home to a wide range of eateries, amenities and a warm multi-ethnic community.
