Reasons to do business in…Bristol

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Each month we feature a different city and the top reasons to do business there. This month is the turn of Bristol.

1.       Ever-expanding

Bristol is continuously attracting new and exciting investors. Rolls-Royce, Aardman Animations, BBC, Toshiba Research Europe, and Orange are only a few of the prolific companies that have grounded themselves in the area.

2.       High employment

A dedicated workforce supports this ever-developing city. As of March 2013 Bristol has the highest employment rate of the core cities at 71.4%.

3.       Community spirit

Bristol is hailed as being the economic capital of the South West. However, it does not stand alone, as Bristol has struck up an important partnership with its neighbours in the sub region. Alongside Bristol, The West of England Partnership also includes Bath and North East Somerset, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset. This equates to a combined population of 1.1 million people.

4.       Compact

Bristol is a relatively small city, but that needn’t be seen as a disadvantage. As a relatively affluent city its pubs, bars and shop life are on a par with big cities like Manchester, only in a more relaxed setting.

5.       History

There are some fantastic heritage sites in the city to draw in the tourists. Bristol is home to England’s oldest inhabited castle, Berkeley castle, and the world’s oldest Methodist building in the world John Wesley’s ‘The new room’. These are just a select few of the fantastic gems that this historically rich city has to offer.
