Reading

Reading is a wonderful, historical city full of a wide range of eateries and dining options to suit any type of city worker or visitor looking to enjoy all the area has to offer.

As one of the top retail destinations in the country, the city attracts thousands of tourists and business visitors every single year. So whether you’re looking to share a coffee with a colleague, or organise a posh meal with a client away from the office, you’ll have plenty of options to choose from in this vibrant city.

The Regular

Throughout the country you’ll find hundreds of popular restaurant chains in every single town and city, and Reading is no different. So if you need to know exactly what to expect from the eatery you book into, high street restaurants are a great choice.

Loch Fyne is a great choice if you’re looking to feast on seafood as you chat office politics with a colleague. Or if you fancy pizza or pasta as you peruse CV’s you can choose from Pizza Express, Papa Gee, Zizzi, Prezzo or ASK Italian. For frothy coffees and sugary afternoon treats, opt for Starbucks, Costa or Nero.

The Unique

Sometimes the occasion suits somewhere that little bit different, and there are plenty of places to eat out in Reading that will surprise you with their innovation and individuality – in a good way.

If your client meeting is as swift as they come, and you need somewhere literally seconds away from the train station, Stewed is about as close as they come. Situated outside the train station itself, this tiny hut has tables and chairs around it so you can sit in the sun and talk targets whilst noshing on one of their one pot wonders. If you fancy something a little more reliable come rain or shine, take your colleagues to Sweeney and Todd, a pie shop with a huge selection of pies you can buy to take away, and a restaurant inside where you can sample the pies and other dishes for not very much money at all. Definitely a great option if you want to provide your clients with lots of choice – as long as they like pies. For colourful world food in a social setting, go to Tutu’s Ethiopian Table and enjoy plenty of dishes you’ve probably never heard of before let alone tried before – a great choice if you need a good conversation starter. Other great options are; Pepe Sale, Pau Brasil and Workhouse Coffee Company.

The Exquisite

When the best of the best is expected, Reading provides an exceptionally broad selection of fine dining eateries that will suit any expectant client.

L’Ortolan is a fantastic Michelin Star eatery providing contemporary cuisine to diners who want to experience innovation and taste sensations in beautiful surroundings. Cliveden House is a great option if you’re looking to eat culinary classics with a twist. The venue offers afternoon tea and private dining as well as evening meals in the restaurant. As for dinner in a picturesque riverside location, opt for The French Horn and enjoy dishes such as; Aberdeen Angus sirloin steak with Bearnaise sauce, or roasted cutlets of lamb, chickpeas and black olive spiced sauce.
