View from inside the office- March

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Each month we will be following 2 companies, both sharing their highs and lows and everyday business challenges, as they describe any issues or problems connected to their office any and the choices and solutions they come up with or are presented with.

The companies will remain anonymous as we want an insight into their office situation and not create a branding or P.R. exercise for them. Both are SME’s, in totally different industries where one company has decided to lease their own offices and the second is in a Serviced Office.

This is the post from the Company in a Leased Office – they will be posting every month. We hope you enjoy the insight…………

After a rather wet and windy winter, we are delighted to welcome blue skies and sunny days- spring has finally sprung. We are feeling brighter and attitudes in the office are full of enthusiasm. It’s amazing the difference a glimpse of the sun can bring to us Brits!

Although we’ve all been delighted to see our evenings stretch, we certainly haven’t been used to the glare brought by the sun. With reflection from computer screens and long periods of screen use already a health issue for our employees, other than kitting our staff out with some stylish sunglasses, we have been left with little choice than to buy and install blinds for each of our windows; another cost to add to the pricey sum we have already accumulated on furnishings.

I can’t help but think that a serviced office would have already thought of such considerations to create an optimum office design, and we would have the very best equipment at our disposal without having to readdress our situation each time we experience expansion or encounter a physical drawback. Controlling our heating is also an issue this time of the year, it’s a game of hot and cold at the minute!

Speaking of our expansion plans, we are pleased to say that we have been recruiting new staff members in order to meet demand and we are now thinking about the implications of physically moving half of our staff members having decided to lease additional office space.

Our main issue is to minimise the amount of lost hours in the move, and be able to relocate seamlessly. A serviced office will allow us to move quickly and be operational within a day with much needed facilities already in place for us to use. This is a huge pull factor towards taking a serviced office despite our closest options being a little further away. At least we will get some exercise walking between buildings!

With staff starting imminently, a decision must be made…
