Birmingham Offices Stand to Benefit from Regeneration Plans

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Serviced Office Provider Targetspace have been offering top quality office accommodation at their popular Baskerville House centre since opening in 2007.  Now the building, which is located in the heart of Birmingham City centre, may stand to benefit as affiliated company Targetfollow, who specialise in commercial property investment and development, seek to develop a 5 acre area of land located to the rear of the property.

Targetfollow, which was set up in 1992, has a substantial development and investment portfolio seeing ongoing success in the acquisition and upgrade of city centre buildings.  Serviced Office Provider Targetspace was formed as an affiliated company of Targetfollow and are now a subsidiary of the ever-expanding business, a relationship which has produced some top of the range serviced office accommodation across the UK.

Now the developer is hoping to secure an exclusivity agreement with Birmingham City Council whereby they would be granted a long term leasehold over the Baskerville Wharf Canalside site, allowing them to co-develop a mixed-use area alongside the council.  Plans for the development include further office space as well as hotels, restaurants, student accommodation, shops and residential properties.  The council is set to make their decision on the proposal by the end of the month and, if given the go-ahead, Targetfollow will embark on preparations for planning applications.

I spoke with Caron Salter-Hill, sales and centre manager for Targetspace’s Baskerville House.  Caron pointed out that although the plans will not directly affect Baskerville House, it is hoped that, if the regenerative scheme is given the green light it will help to encourage further interest from businesses considering a move to the city centre.  I asked Caron to describe the space at Baskerville House and she told me it was of a true “Grade A” standard. Located at the hub of Birmingham city’s business district and overlooking Centenary Square, Broad Street and the adjoining International Convention Centre and Symphony Hall, the prominent building boasts seven stories of contemporary space.  Enclosed under a glazed roof and with internal atria, offices boast a fantastic working environment with clients benefiting from plenty of natural light and a wonderful sense of space.
