“This is like the Oscars for us” David Saul.

Serviced office operator Business Environment has been named the best provider of customer service of any UK professional services firm.

The company scooped a 2013 UK Customer Experience Award, beating several firms, including outsourcing giant Capita, in the process.

The prize was due in a large part to Business Environment’s innovative “Service Excellence Guarantee” – a set of benchmarks which the company enforces by integrating them into staff reviews, conducting “secret shopper” exercises, and giving a bound copy to all customers to ensure they know what to expect.

David Saul, managing director of Business Environment, said: “We couldn’t be more delighted with this win. We face stiff competition from several rivals, many of whom are larger and better-known, so we have to compete on customer service. This award is like the Oscars for any company interested in delivering high quality customer service.”

Since the introduction of the Service Excellence Guarantee, Business Environment has risen to 36th place in the Sunday Times’ “Best Companies to Work For” list. The firm’s customers stay for an average of over two years – significantly more than the industry-wide average of eight months.

The Customer Experience Awards are partnered by the Cranfield Customer Management Forum (CCMF), a business network run by the Cranfield University School of Management Centre for Strategic Marketing and Sales. CCMF will be producing a white paper which will focus on drawing out best practice in customer experience.
