Two senior executives of managed workspace provider, Bizspace, have helped raise more than £1100 for children’s cancer charity CLIC Sargent by competing in the grueling Trentham Classic Triathlon on Sunday 11th July.
Emma Long, Bizspace’s operations director, completed a one mile swim, followed by a 23 mile bike ride and then finished with a 10km run in a total time of 3 hours 41 minutes, whilst Steve Payne, Bizspace’s head of finance, romped home just 22 minutes ahead of Emma.
“CLIC Sargent is our nominated charity for 2010 and with it being such a worthwhile cause, we were determined to literally go that extra mile to help raise funds,” comments Steve Payne.
“However, the Trentham Triathlon was just the start of our fundraising activities this year as we are encouraging team members from all of 110 business centres to take part in a charity swim/run/walk and cycle trip to cover the 467 miles from our northern most centre in Glasgow to our most southerly location in Lewes. Team members will compete in stages over a ten week period leading up to Bizspace’s 10th anniversary and hope to raise a target of £3000 for CLIC Sargent.”
CLIC Sargent helps children and young people with cancer, and their families, with the trauma of diagnosis, the often long journey through treatment and continues to support them afterwards.
Dan Powell, CLIC Sargent community fundraising manager, said: “We are delighted that Bizspace have chosen to support CLIC Sargent and their triathlon success is a great way to kick off their fundraising. Today another ten families will hear that their child has cancer. CLIC Sargent can only help two out of three of them. We need the support of organisations like Bizspace so we can be there for each and every one.
