Office Space in Portsmouth may be on the rise as the 100-acre Lakeside development in Portsmouth awaits approval for the construction of a further 750,000 sq ft of office space at the site, to be decided next month.
The office space plans are part of a large project proposal by Property Fund Manager Highcross, who have owned the site since 2005, and includes a number of retail and leisure facilities including a four star hotel and car dealership. The new office space will, in part, be aimed at small businesses in keeping with the success that the UK’s largest serviced office operator Regus Plc has seen at the site with their Lakeside business centre.
Since its launch early last year, Regus’ Lakeside business centre has proved particularly popular with small companies and start ups looking for flexible office space in the Portsmouth area which are now contributing to some 50% of the centre occupancy figures. In commercial and retail property magazine Property Week, General manager of the Lakeside Business Centre, Freddie Goodwin, commented: “There has been a clear growth in demand for two-person offices from start-up businesses…I think it has a lot to do with new businesses wanting to have brand new offices and make sure that they have an impressive image.“
