Office Space Portsmouth: The landmark Portsmouth Technopole in Portsmouth is now being managed by regional technology parks and office space operator Fasset after the company was awarded a contract by the owners.
Portsmouth Technopole Ltd (PTL) has selected locally based technology parks specialist Fasset to operate at the Portsmouth office space business centre. Under Fasset’s management, the landmark centre is expected to take a pivotal regenerative role in the local economy by attracting new occupiers and jobs to the area!
Portsmouth Technopole is an iconic building by the M275 entrance to the city. The building offers just under 20,000 sq ft of office space available on flexible lease terms, dedicated to early-stage businesses, particularly ones involved in knowledge-based industries.
PTL, which owns the building, selected property and facilities management specialist Fasset because of the company’s proven track record in driving up occupancy rates at similar sites in the south and its strong links with local and regional networks. Paul Bradstock, PTL Chairman, said: “It is important that the Technopole should be at the heart of the Portsmouth city region, and we felt that Fasset, as a well-respected operator embedded in the local and regional networks of business and government, is the most appropriate organisation to manage that process. Fasset is well placed to take the Technopole to the next level, helping to generate jobs, economic vitality and international competitiveness.”
Chris Allington, Joint Managing Director, Fasset, said: “The aim is to bring the Technopole closer to the city region’s economic regeneration agenda. One of the key things we intend doing is encouraging technology transfers between the Technopole and businesses and institutions like the University of Portsmouth. That will help encourage the next generation of Bill Gates’ though the commercialisation of technology developed right on our doorstep. The significance of knowledge-based industries in and around Portsmouth, which has 6,500 businesses, should not be under-estimated. For example, the defence industry contributes more than 5% of south Hampshire’s GDP – equivalent to some £680m a year, and the city’s naval base alone generates some 35,000 jobs directly and indirectly. The possibilities arising from collaborative tie-ups between the Technopole and local organisations and institutions are exciting and immense.”
Current tenants at the Portsmouth office space centre include software development specialist AMT Data Technologies, remote control toys designer Bladez Toyz, marine technology firm IXSEA, and Servoca, providers of specialist outsourced solutions to police forces and local and national government. All tenants have been informed by letter of the change of manager, which will not affect their businesses. The current team of four staff are transferring to Fasset.
