Each month we will be following 2 companies, both sharing their highs and lows and everyday business challenges, as they describe any issues or problems connected to their office any and the choices and solutions they come up with or are presented with.
The companies will remain anonymous as we want an insight into their office situation and not create a branding or P.R. exercise for them. Both are SMEs, in totally different industries where one company has decided to lease their own offices and the second is in a Serviced Office.
This is the post from the Company in a Leased Office – they will be posting every month. We hope you enjoy the insight…………
A third of the way through the year already- how time is flying! We are glad that the ominous looking foggy skies have lifted, even if they have been followed with some blustery April showers. Speaking of clouds being lifted, we have finally found a suitable office to house our ever expanding team; a decision which had been hanging over us since the end of last year.
Having weighed up all of our options; to split the team or not to split the team; to choose serviced or leased space; or to pick the closest proximity over the best office for our needs, after an office viewing one too many we’ve decided on what we believe most meets our requirements.
This time round, a serviced office came up trumps over the leased options which were available on the same street. The new office is a twenty minute walk or a five minute car journey if you hit the traffic at the right time. There is excitement in the office about the new space from established members of the team, and we are coming to the end of our recruitment drive where we’ve had the opportunity to meet with some really talented professionals.
The staff members which we have recruited to date have been settling in so far, taking a proactive attitude where they’ve been hitting the ground running. They’ve already had positive influence which can only mean a bigger and brighter future for the company. The office we are in currently despite its hiccups here and there is well designed with break out rooms and communal areas which has allowed the new members of staff to easily integrate with the team.
To prevent a gap forming between the two offices, and in order to keep a consistent office environment which reflects the company culture, our main priority at present is finding a solution which will maintain the high levels of communication we have through all levels of the team.
The facilities which our new serviced office offers is really going to help; the video conferencing in particular. Should we wish to hold team discussions we can easily communicate albeit virtually and come to a conclusion quickly. We also plan to hold our client meetings there going forward; the state of the art meeting rooms available in a variety of sizes are sure to impress. We’ll also have our welcoming receptionist on hand which adds a touch of professionalism.
The pub conveniently next door is also sure to help with some off duty team building come Friday afternoon…
