Offices in Sheffield City Centre are bucking market trends after a number of recent signings saw the occupancy levels at the prominent Fountain Precinct building soar to 95% capacity.
Fountain Precinct was built in the 1970s and offers 112,000 square feet of office space. The building, which is owned by pension fund clients of LaSalle Investment Management, is named after the fountain that used to stand at the top of Fargate in Barkers Pool.
The sought after property is superbly situated in the city centre surrounded by restaurants, shops and bars, making it an attractive option for businesses looking to relocate within central Sheffield.
Offices underwent a major refurbishment during 2011 which included the creation of an ultra-modern, extended reception area. Following the works, Fountain Precinct has attracted a number of important new tenants. Amongst the new residents is business rescue and recovery specialist Begbies Traynor. The recent signing of Begbies and the expansion of solicitors, Slater & Gordon, means that the building is now outperforming the rest of the Sheffield market.
The growing list of professional companies residing in Fountain Precinct include PKF, Co-operative Bank, Wrigleys solicitors, Aon, Slater & Gordon lawyers and commercial property agent Knight Frank’s own Sheffield office.
Group Facilities Manager at Begbies Traynor, Mike Crook, said: “It took us a long time to find the right building but Fountain Precinct offered us the opportunity to get exactly the office space we had in mind, accommodating our requirement for 3,000 sq ft by splitting part of the fourth floor of the building’s Leopold Street Wing. We also chose the building because of its excellent central location and, following the refurbishment programme, we felt it suited our company’s corporate image.“
