A bespoke office space and distribution unit is to be built at Smithy Wood, one of the most thriving of Sheffield business parks.
The 38,000 sq ft commercial development is for express parcel delivery business DPD which is relocating from Thorncliffe Distribution Park. The expanding business will be taking on new staff and the bespoke property will offer a larger building to help support ongoing company growth.
This is the second bespoke facility to be built at Smithy Wood Business Park after Cutting and Wear moved into a brand new designed advanced manufacturing facility at the park back in 2011.
The site, marketed by commercial agents Knight Frank on behalf of St Paul’s Developments, is proving popular with local companies due to its quality setting and prime transport links.
Construction of the properties is a positive sign that bespoke commercial development is returning to Sheffield’s business parks.
Partner at the Sheffield office of Knight Frank, Rebecca Schofield, commented: “Smithy Wood is proving to be one of Sheffield’s most successful business parks, and St Paul’s Developments are bucking the trend securing a second design and build. The fact that Knight Frank has brokered two design and build projects at Smithy Wood sets it apart from other sites, but also demonstrates a return to the market for such build to suit opportunities to accommodate the specific needs of the region’s successful businesses.
Development of the new property will begin this month, led by St Paul’s Developments.
Development manager at St Paul’s Developments, Dennis Enuson, said: “The letting of 38,000 sq ft to DPD also opens up the rest of Smithy Wood. The key infrastructure will be in place to accommodate further development immediately and allows us to respond easily to future build to suit requirements.’’
