Following our recent article reporting the benefits of flexible leasing for companies facing today’s economic conditions, “Flexible Serviced Offices Outperform Traditional Leasing Amidst Downturn”, the Business Centre Association, (BCA) has this month reported on the “aggressive expansion” within the UK of yet another Serviced Office provider Forsyth Business Centres.
The BCA commented on how Forsyth has launched their latest expansion due directly to their ability to capitalise “on businesses needing greater accommodation flexibility in a trying economic time”. The report echoed our earlier articles which reflected on the ability of Serviced and Managed office operators to ride the downturn thanks to their Flexible Office lease terms now being favoured by companies reluctant to commit to longer term leasing amidst an uncertain economy.
It is interesting to note that Forsyth’s recent investments fall outside of central London. Staying away from the Capital’s centre, the operators have chosen areas to the West of London, falling inside the “western wealth corridor” of Greater London and the county of Surrey. Towns like Richmond on Thames and Walton on Thames have proved to be first choice for Forsyth over London’s City or West End districts. This would seem to fall in with a continuing trend which Easy Offices has recently seen for providers and clients choosing to stay on the outskirts of the recently struggling central London areas. Another Serviced Office Provider United Business Centres (UBC) have recently staged a similar expansion to Forsyth, taking on several new properties across the M4 corridor and up into midland areas of the country.
It can only really be speculated as to whether the downturn is to blame for relocating businesses opting to stay out from the high rentals of central London but Easy Offices has certainly seen an ongoing trend for businesses favouring smaller, residential towns and villages outside of the City.
