A thrilling 150ft abseil challenge from the roof of The Balance in the heart of Sheffield launched the new phase of the landmark office building and raised ~4,750 for charity.
Adventurous thrill-seekers with a head for heights rose to the heady challenge to take part in the daring task with developers CBRE Investors donating ~50 to Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice for every abseil completed.
Ninety-five brave participants abseiled down the side of the Grade A office accommodation from two ropes fixed to the roof of the newly refurbished ten-storey building just off Trippet Lane and Townhead Street.
The event, organised by CBRE Investors and the Sheffield office of commercial property consultants Knight Frank, showcased the comprehensive refurbishment programme recently completed on the building – formerly City Plaza.
Knight Frank partner Tim Bottrill said: “The whole ethos of The Balance focuses on an innovative combination of work and play, so what better way to launch the rebranded building than with a fun charity challenge. It provided a great atmosphere and an opportunity for business community to see the new improved offices and break out areas.
“The day was a great success and I’m delighted we raised so much money for Bluebell Wood, while putting The Balance on the map as a new landmark for the city centre.“
The refurbishment of The Balance includes a new exterior facade at ground level and first floor, open plan work spaces, an impressive new double height reception and a fully landscaped courtyard with seating.
Suites available to rent range from 1,600 ft upwards in the 25,000 sq ft building plus parking in a secure basement car park.
The Balance is prominently located within easy walking distance of the main retail areas of Sheffield including Leopold Square, Division Street and Fargate for lunchtime and after work visits and has a Supertram stop on its doorstep.
